Natural Dye Workshop August 8-10, 2008. This 2 1/2 day comprehensive workshop taught by ArtistsRegister.com member AristsRegister.com member Jane Hoffman shows you how to create a rich palette of beautiful, lightfast and washfast color from natural dyes. We will be using native, cultivated, and imported dye material including plants from Jane's dye garden. She will share her knowledge and methods for producing many shades of color from each dye-pot. You will learn to prepare the dye, to mordant and dye protein fiber (i.e. wool, silk, mohair, alpaca), and to experiment with color by using post-mordant baths, exhaust baths and over-dyeing. Class fees: are dependent upon number of participants: 4 = $240; 5 = $192; 6 = $160; 7 = $138; 8 = $120; 9 = $107; 10= $96. Materials will be provided.
